The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office hired Jimmy Shelton and Trevon Franks as deputies on March 15.

Shelton, the new School Resource Officer, brings with him a wealth of experience and is a certified general/firearms instructor.

Franks comes to the department with 25 years law enforcement experience.

Michael Sheppard, with ten years’ experience in law enforcement, and Josh Miller, fresh out of Basic Law Enforcement Training at Beaufort County Community College, started as deputies on April 1.

“We are glad to have them with us, and look forward to them working in our community,” said Sheriff Kevin Sawyer.
